Heat Screenplay
Heat is a short story about a server who is down on her luck. Emily takes care of her mother who is battling cancer, while also trying to navigate a stressful job in a busy kitchen. Emily tries to hold in all these stressful emotions, but would eventually burst when dealing with her brash manager. This is a story about losing all composure, feeling broken, and losing hope. I filmed this short with some fantastic actors and they brought this script to life.

I wrote 'Heat' to represent the sacrifices we make everyday. Everyone is going through something, the world is harsh and unfair. And in Emily's case it might seem life is against them, but its in these moments where we can connect empathetically as humans. Even something as small as lending an ear can make someone feel better. The grief we all carry as animate creatures does not need to be harbored alone, and its in this short that Emily discovers that.
