I am Steven Rulon, a Korean American born in El Paso, Texas. I create films to cause a conversation. Through my upbringing I learned how my perspective can be applied artistically, and that’s how I discovered film. I was always a curious child, so I always loved watching movies and tv, picking them apart and seeing how they work. Films like Blade Runner, Drive, Dark Knight, inspired me to explore my creative side and understand characters and concepts of story.
While I was in school I discovered the power of filmmaking. The vast possibilities that can be portrayed on screen excited me. I dreamt of stories all my life and in this environment I get to express them. To me it felt like magic, writing lines for a character and casting an actor to breathe life into that role. Filmmaking is a fascinating medium that transcends time and space, and being with talented people who work to manifest an artistic vision is what dreams are made of.
I have some of my best life memories just chatting up people on set, meeting new people and bonding over our experience in this special art. I am a selfless person, and in all my work I make it my goal for everyone to feel special. I've been apart of feature films, comedic web series', cultural documentaries, inspirational short films, and much more. I love creating stories with amazing people, and I look forward to more great experiences down the road.
